The ITS archive holds 26,000 metres of various types of records. The alphabetically and phonetically arranged Central Name Index contains over 50 million reference cards for over 17.5 million people and is the key to the documents and correspondence files.

Preservation of the documents

The documents in the ITS archives are of enormous historical significance. To ensure the conservation of the archives for the use of future generations it is essential to digitize and preserve the records for long-term storage.

Search in the finding aids

Finding aids smooth the way of the archives' user to the holdings and records. Roughly five percent of the archive's entire stock have been described with the means of archival science in the current finding aids.

List of personal effects

The ITS archive is still in possession of roughly 2,900 personal effects, of which the former owners are known. The goal is to return the items to those persecuted and their family members.

Inventory Search

ITS preserves over 21,000 archival or historical collection units. All units inventoried - a description of each stock included - can be called up in this database. Consulting the database, you may find out whether ITS keeps archival or historical collection units on definite camps, subjects, groups of persecutees, time lines, amount or contents of source texts etc. Because of its origins as a registration tool, the inventory offers only a summary sketch of the contents of the archive, and not an in-depth view into the contents of every collection. It is not a catalog in the traditional sense, which is in the process of being completed.
