Educational Commitment

The International Tracing Service (ITS) also sees its purpose in facilitating and advancing education about Nazi crimes. In this conjunction, ITS actively supports the educational work of schools, universities, memorial sites and other institutions. The tracing service makes it possible to use the archives for pedagogic purposes, and it also carries out projects together with school classes and cooperates with educational institutions.

The ITS Library

At the Research Department, a library is also open to ITS visitors. In the spring of 2008, work began on the transformation of the existing library into a special library dedicated to ITS topics. Back at the time, the inventory was still based on the status quo of the early 1970s and comprised around 1,500 publications. It has continually grown through the addition of new purchases since February 2008. In addition, there is a stock of roughly 60 different magazines and yearbooks.

Academic Publications

The Research Department is expected to begin publishing its own academic titles starting in 2011. Among other things, a yearbook and directory of all DP camps are planned. A directory of the number allocation at concentration camps will also be compiled. This could prove helpful when researching personal fates or specific groups of people.
