Copies of ITS Records and Confirmation Reports

The International Tracing Service provides information about Germans and non-Germans who were detained in Nazi concentration or work camps or other detention sites, and about non-Germans deployed as forced labourers on Third Reich territory during World War II.

The ITS receives an increasing number of enquiries from second and third generations asking for information about the persecution of their relatives. In the past victims of Nazi persecution also needed certificates to apply for pension and compensation payments. ITS can also give support in obtaining birth and death certificates.

Information provided by the ITS is considered legally binding. The information is given in the form of a certificate or a letter. Currently, incoming enquiries should be processed within eight weeks.

Relatives and victims also have the option of receiving copies of original documents stored in Bad Arolsen. At the moment, ITS sends out copies of individual documents along with the answers to enquiries. List material, such as transport lists, entry lists or death books is not provided in copy.
