The UNESCO has inscribed the original documents and the Central Name Index of the Archives of the International Tracing Service (ITS) in Bad Arolsen, Germany, into the Memory of the World Register. „We are thrilled by the news“, said ITS director Professor Rebecca Boehling. „This is a great honor for the ITS and should attract even more attention to our incredible collections related to the victims of Nazi persecution and its legacy. The responsibility we all share in securing and preserving these archives for posterity is confirmed by this UNESCO decision.“

The CSD Kassel e.V. and the International Tracing Service (ITS) Bad Arolsen invite to a reading on 28 June 2013 with Alexander Zinn. The author will present his book "Happiness Always Came to Me / Rudolf Brazda - The Experiences of a Homosexual in the Third Reich." The event is one of the supporting programs of this year's Christopher Street Day in Kassel.

Together with the Center for Holocaust Literature and the International Tracing Service (ITS), a lecture and discussion will be held on 26 June 2013 at the University of Giessen. Dr Susanne Urban, Head of Research and Education at the ITS, will report on survivors’ early statements found in the collections of the ITS.

The International Tracing Service (ITS) in Bad Arolsen published a general inventory on its website today. It catalogues the archival collections and provides for the very first time detailed information about the scope of the different sub-fonds. In addition, it offers short explanations about the type, background and origin of some of the documents. "The publication of the general inventory represents a further step towards more transparency. We want to improve access to our archival collections", said Professor Rebecca Boehling, Director of the ITS.

From 27th to 29th May 2013 the International Tracing Service (ITS) in Bad Arolsen hosted a workshop on “Geography and Holocaust research” with 18 participants from seven countries. “We are very pleased to be the host for this important interdisciplinary exchange between academics. The findings of the geographers enable even better depiction of the geographical and time relationships of the Holocaust,” said Professor Rebecca Boehling, Director of the ITS.

Volker Ilgen has spent one-week researching at the International Tracing Service (ITS) in Bad Arolsen on behalf of the town archives of Offenburg. He traced back 40 biographies in the archives searching information on their persecution. On 12 April 1945, they were murdered at the artillery barracks, because they were too exhausted to be evacuated before the arrival of the advancing French troops.

The memorial of the SS Special Camp/Concentration Camp Hinzert and the International Tracing Service (ITS) have presented first results of the joint research project „When love is turned into a crime” on 13 May 2013. In the focus of the project are the fates of the so-called "Germanization-Poles".

At the beginning of April 2013, a seminar was held in collaboration with the Russian Research and Educational Holocaust Center and the House of the Wannsee Conference at the International Tracing Service (ITS). Fifteen educators from twelve different regions of the Russian Federation visited the ITS to learn about the history of Nazism and the persecution of the Jews.
