Tracing Service

Founded towards the end of World War II, the International Tracing Service focussed for many years on tracing missing persons, and this remains an integral part of the organisation’s work.

The ITS archives are scrutinized for information on Germans and non-Germans who went missing or were displaced during the war.

A further aim of the ITS is to clarify the fate of individuals and to help reunite families, bringing those who were children at the time into contact with their parents or siblings.
