County Commissioner visits the ITS
On 9 September 2016 County Commissioner Dr. Reinhardt Kubat had a closer look into the work of the International Tracing Service (ITS). “An important activity, not only for former victims of persecution and their descendants, but also for coming generations who need to understand the past”, emphasized Kubat, who has been in office for the Waldeck-Frankenberg district, to which Bad Arolsen belongs, since 2010.
The politician spoke first with ITS Director Floriane Hohenberg about the current projects of the ITS, and viewed the archive and the library. He learned more about the process of responding to inquiries as well as about plans and initiatives in the field of research and education. The County Commissioner reaffirmed his support for acquiring third-party funding in the region.
“I am deeply impressed by the amount of progress the ITS has made in its ongoing development as an archive and documentation center, and am pleased that the facility will have a future in Bad Arolsen and in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district ”, said Kubat. “The creation of highly qualified jobs as a result of the restructuring will further strengthen the development of our region.”
